12 rules Augusta National sets for TV commentators before the Masters
This is a truly fascinating find from ESPN's Darren Rovell. Lots of nevers and don'ts. Among the more interesting rules:
"Never estimate the size of the gallery"
"Do not compare any holes at Augusta National with those at another course"
"Instead of identifying Lee Elder as the first black man to play in the Masters, say he is the first person of his race to play in the tournament."
And just in case you were wondering, these kind of rules are still in place. They're not spectators! They're patrons!
